Fourth of July Ideas that DON’T suck.

Confession: I have a problem with the Fourth of July.

It’s not the holiday itself– because I dearly love the patriotic ambience, bright sparklers, and over-the-top fireworks. Nope, none of that. I have a problem with the decor and projects I see year after year that continue to be sort of cheesy and pretty outdated. It was making my skin crawl, really. It’s hard to escape the mundane banners and American Flag decor, but it is doable! I’ve rounded up the best Fourth of July party picks and DIY’s you NEED to execute this year.. or else. These are the Fourth of July ideas that DON’T suck. I’ll come hunt you down if I see a cheesy decoration.

AMERICAN FLAG GARLAND // Say adios to that old pennant banner and lanterns and other funky hanging stuff. The House That Lars built created this amazing flag garland that is minimalistic + chic. A must!

BOOM CAKE TOPPERS // While patriotic flag cakes can be done is a super rad way– update it. Try a simple white cake with some super cool cake toppers, like these Boom Toppers from Tell Love and Chocolate. You party will be a bang (hehe.)

NAUTICAL INVITES // These invites are done so right. Although they’re intended for a wedding– you can use them as inspiration for a classy, but whimsical, invite to your 4th of July soiree.

MARSHMALLOW ROASTING STICKS // It’s not a party without marshmallows– that is GIVEN. Fourth of July is the perfect reason to bring out the fire pit and get roasting! These marshmallow sticks from Love Grows Wild are practical and gorgeous. Who knew roasting sticks could be so appealing!?

PATRIOTIC ICE CREAM FLOATS // Ice cream gets an update when in float mode. I love colored pop with a good scoop of vanilla and a fun straw. It’s a cheap, delicious snack for the Fourth!

DIY FRINGE POPCORN BAGS // This popcorn bag is waaaay too cute! Popcorn is great for big parties because it’s budget friendly. Remember the popcorn bar from last week’s post? Time to get all the goods. The Fourth is a great opportunity to break out the popcorn maker!

CLOTH PICNIC GAMES // It’s not the Fourth without games, trust me on this. If you’re having a picnic, this is obviously a fun way to keep everyone entertained. A plus? The games fold right up and tuck away into your picnic basket.

MINI HOT DOGS // Cuteness overload. I love hot dogs during the Summer. There’s something super nostalgic about heating them in the sweltering heat! Oh Happy Day did an insane job with these and I’m sure your guests would be thoroughly impressed if you popped them out at your next outing.

What do you think? Do these ideas suck? I don’t thiiiiink so! If you have an amazing Fourth of July idea, please share it with us! Until next time. XO, Sami.
