The People Plan by Sage Wedding Pros

by heidi at idieh design on

I met Michelle and Kelly of Sage Wedding Pros at Eventology a few years back. We instantly hit it off and I have valued both their friendship & always-thoughtful feedback ever since. Recently, these ladies asked me to collaborate with them on a new product they planned to launch, The People Plan.

I started out by asking Michelle & Kelly to fill out the branding request questionnaire. From there, we exchanged a few emails and then had a Skype call to kickoff the project and discuss ideas for their new brand launch. They had their ideas, as well as I had mine, and we worked together to combine our ideas and fine tune the direction of the brand. Overall, my recommendation was to build off of their existing brand for Sage Wedding Pros, considering this product is an extension of their educational offerings. After many emails, reviews, revisions, and discussions, we landed on this solution:

What did Michelle & Kelly think?

“Heidi was fantastic to work with on our logo and letterhead design for The People Plan! We wanted to remain consistent with our branding for Sage Wedding Pros since people know that logo so well. However, we are in the midst of pulling all of our products and services together and had to think forward with how it will all look as we continue to define ourselves. Heidi acted as visionary on what all of the pieces can look like as we continue to evolve. She had great insight!

Not only did Heidi tell us what would work for our brand(s), but also she was very confident in telling us what wouldn’t work – or when we were steering away from our core. We really needed an expert to differentiate those things for us because it’s not easy having the outside perspective when you are inside the business. At every step of the process, she kept us in tune with our project milestones.  She made it easy for us to know where she was at in the design process with the help of her timelines and by being in continual communication. And, we love the design she came up with!  It’s straightforward, simple, and happy… kinda like us.”
~Michelle Loretta (& Kelly Simants), Sage Wedding Pros

new website | graphic design studio

by heidi at idieh design on

Extra, extra, read all about it! Last week idieh design officially launched our brand spankin’ new website!

Designing a 100% customized website to better showcase idieh design’s capabilities, along with my true personality, has been on my list for longer than I care to mention. But, don’t they say every journey begins with a single step? Well, I took my single [website] step last December, and, I must say, it was quite the journey. So, after many edits, refinements, tweaks (and, ironically, no tears) it blossomed into what you see today. Let’s just say my heart is smiling from one atrium to the next. (Did I just type that?!)

Anyway…

Even though I have been designing for over 6+ years (not including all those internships in college), I truly believe, up to this point in my career, that this website is the project most meaningful and fulfilling to me. I literally put my whole heart (no pun intended) into the design of this site. And, considering I’ve had the opportunity to work on brands such as Pampers, Herbal Essences, and Graeter’s Ice Cream (YUM!), this only goes to say this website goes down as a big accomplishment in my book. Why, you ask? Let me count the ways.

1. This was the official kickoff to idieh design offering website design services. (Looking for a new website? Ring me and let’s chat!)

2. As mentioned, this has been on my “to-do” list since I can remember, and the launch of this not only allowed me to check off a very BIG item on the never-ending list, but it also symbolized how far the business has come since it all started. I began just doing work for some friends here and there, to bidding for jobs online, to now having the opportunity to work with all types of wonderful people throughout the U.S. & beyond. The best part, I’ve made some great friends along the way.

3. Last, but not least, as my sister recently put it, “So proud of you and so excited that you are showing the real you…fun and spunky and super talented!!” This, by far, is the most meaningful to me. I’m showing the REAL me. This website is 110% me and, until now, my brand was lacking just that…moi. This particular accomplishment goes far beyond a website, a brand, even a business. And, to avoid writing a book about what I mean by this, in a nutshell, the past year has been monumental in finding myself, entirely embracing that person, and just being me. I see this website as the tangible item symbolizing just that. And, you know what folks, being me is pretty darn cool.

So, make sure you go check out the new site and let me know what you think!

Thank you for all the kind emails, texts, posts, & tweets last week during the launch. It only made my heart swell even more. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback & encouragement along the way. You ROCK! And, thank you to the super-talented Stephanie Fay for the fabulous new portraits & headshots. Go check out her gorgeous work & more shots from our fun shoot.

Much love, peeps, much love. xoxo

s’mores bar | phoenix bride and groom

by heidi at idieh design on

The ladies over at Outstanding Occasions asked if I would like to create the paper products for this super fun dessert bar. And, not just any dessert bar…a s’mores bar! I’m not a huge chocolate fan (yes, you heard me right, I don’t LOVE chocolate) but when I saw they were using Peanut Butter Reece’s Cups as an option to pair with gooey marshmallows, I was sold! (Combining peanut butter with anything makes it better, no?)

The idea behind the bar was the four-step process you must complete before you get to enjoy your scrumptious s’more.

1. Grab Graham Cracker

2. Add Chocolate

3. Poke Marshmallow

4. Roast it & Toast it

The yummy dessert bar idea and photos were featured in the Winter/Spring 2012 issue of Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine, entitled “Melt My Heart.”

idieh design created the signage for each station, included small tags to decorate the roasting sticks, and designed the adorable sign in the back to highlight the s’mores bar. The concept was executed by Rachel, Heather, & Jennifer of Outstanding Occasions, the table linen is from Wildflower Linen, and the fabulous photos are by Melissa Jill Photography.

Now, raise your hand if you are craving s’mores. Yep, that’s what I thought.

valentine’s day mini cards | printables

by heidi at idieh design on

Who doesn’t love to relive the days when you were back in grade school and you couldn’t wait to pick out which Valentine’s card you would give to each classmate? You know, you always saved the cute ones for your besties and the super lovey ones for your biggest crush. And who can forget the fun times we all had making our little pouches that would hold all the Valentine’s we received (crossing our fingers that at the end of the day it would hold the card from our biggest crush confessing their love)?!?

So, I’m takin’ it back to the old school, ’cause I’m an old fool, who’s so cool (I digress)… To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, I designed four different mini cards for you to print out & use to your heart’s content. Use these little cards to remind those special someones in your life just how much they are loved. Write a little note on the back and leave them in unexpected places on this special Hallmark holiday {insert smirk}.  In a lunchbox. On their pillow. In the car. In the shower. The places are endless. Be creative and share the love on Valentine’s Day this year.

My four-legged child will be getting the card above in his crate, because there is no doubt that he is as cute as a button.

Happy {early} Valentine’s Day! XOXO

emma Quist | new logo

by heidi at idieh design on

I always love when stationery clients become branding clients or vice versa. Not only does it give you a chance to learn more about that individual and their style, but it also usually leads to a lovely new friendship!  I was lucky enough to work with Lindsey on her wedding stationery, which led her to ask me to design a logo for her new business venture, emma Quist.

Sophisticated. Chic. Elite. These were the words Lindsey used to describe the emma Quist brand. She knew she wanted to derive the logo from the design I created for her wedding invitations. It was a radiating sun and only seemed fitting to use as inspiration since her father calls her sunshine and they were starting this new business together.

“Together, Lindsey and Craig [her father] have embarked upon a mission to create an elite haute jewelry brand that resonates with clientele of sophisticated style; those who appreciate rarity, luxury, and uncompromising craftsmanship uniquely articulated in an objet d’art.” - excerpt from emma Quist site

The initial design concept was this:

Lindsey loved the idea of the “Q” becoming one of the rays, but the overall feel was a little too modern for her. Therefore, we went back, tweaked the design and the logo of emma Quist was born. (Okay, it was a little more in depth than that, but we like to keep things simple around here.)

We chose a color combo of eggplant and black, along with a more intricate sun, paired with a dramatic, yet refined font. Lindsey was thrilled with the end result, as was I. What say you?
