elegant & magical wedding | lindsey & dan

by heidi at idieh design on

Louis XIV, the “Sun King” was the inspiration behind this engraved wedding invitation suite. The couple wanted an elegant, sophisticated, yet unique design with the emphasis being on a sun insignia. The bride loved the idea of incorporating a symbol that could be used throughout all of their stationery and a sun seemed most fitting considering her nickname was “Sunshine,” given to her by her father.

idieh design first created a custom sun emblem and then worked with Jennifer Schmitt Calligraphy to incorporate Jennifer’s beautiful script throughout the entire engraved ensemble. The sun emblem was cropped differently on each piece to give each card its own unique character. The liner pulled elements from the emblem and created an intricate repeating pattern. The main wedding invite consisted of a plum, charcoal, & white paper stock wrapped in a charcoal satin ribbon. The reception and response card fit snuggly behind the band, making the suite more of a package. The outer envelope was finished off with a custom wax seal with the couple’s initials. All of these elements were then carried throughout the remaining wedding stationery, such as the menus, escort cards, and table numbers.

modern wedding photo shoot | featured in junebug weddings

by heidi at idieh design on

I can’t even contain my excitement to share with you this modern wedding inspiration shoot recently featured on Junebug Weddings! Not only was this shoot modern, funky, and sophisticated (a.k.a. definitely our style!), but it was so much fun teaming up with the following creatives to make this shoot such a success:

Design & Execution: Outstanding Occasions
Photography: Melissa Jill Photography
Styling: AVE Styles
Florist: Camelback Flowershop
Venue: W Scottsdale
Make-up: Bliss Spa
Hair: Organic Hair Lounge
Jewelry: emma Quist (we created emma Quist’s logo, too!)
Cakes: Classic Cakes & Confections

And who can have a shoot without an inspired story behind it? This “wedding” was conceptualized based on the following details:

Tori, an interior designer and fashionista from LA, married Tyson, a quirky, Arizona guy who grew up riding horses. Through the use of a black, white & grey color palette, combined with a splash of hot pink, masculine & feminine details were infused throughout Tori & Tyson’s “wedding” day.

idieh design created a fabric invitation, combining multiple patterns such as houndstooth and stripes. The modern, clean, and type-focused invitation was wrapped with a charcoal grey elastic band to hold the response card and envelope.

The outer envelope was lined with a houndstooth liner, customized with the bride & groom’s names.

The graphic elements were carried throughout all aspects of the shoot.

A finishing touch was a donut shoppe full of donut pops and yummy toppings to decorate your own donut. Yum!

How will you infuse your own personality into your big day?

featured in arizona bride

by heidi at idieh design on

Awesome news! idieh design is featured in the latest issue of Arizona Bride! We chose to showcase a rehearsal dinner invitation created for Lindsey & Dan, a couple who wished for the invite to reflect the Western style of their rehearsal dinner, complete with country dance lessons! This particular design mixes custom patterns & various fonts, paired with a bold combination of tangerine and red. The outer envelope is finished off with a custom label.

name that color contest

by heidi at idieh design on

As you probably already know, idieh design underwent a rebrand a few months back. As I’ve been so excited for the new brand and have had an awesome time implementing it, whenever I need to describe the colors of the brand, I find myself using different descriptions every time.  idieh design’s brand colors are unique and I can’t seem to pinpoint how best to describe their character. Therefore, I decided, why not have a contest?!

Objective: to find a fun & unique name to describe each color of the idieh design brand (shown above). If your color name is chosen for one of the brand colors, you will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card. (That means you have a chance to win THREE gift cards!)

You can offer up as many names as you see fit. The more creative, the better. Just leave your suggestions below! (Or, if you prefer to email your suggestions, please send them to: heidi@idiehdesign.com)

Please note: I’m not looking for the obvious teal, coral, & grey.  For example,  you could maybe use Pomegranate Red (but doesn’t seem to fully resonate with the color), Caribbean Green, and Cement Grey. Get your creative juices flowing and let me see what you got.

Bonus points: if names are related to the brand (i.e. spark, burst, idea) OR even better, they are related to candy (what I love best!)

Contest ends next Wednesday, July 13 at 11:59 PM MST.
