Sherbert Recipes

You guys. It’s Memorial Day Weekend. Like how the heck did we get here? Wasn’t yesterday like 1997? Oh, and it’s officially hot outside. So naturally I did what any sane person would do, which is whip up some refreshing homemade mint sherbet. Did you know that it’s sherbet, without the second ‘R’?, cuz I didn’t until this week. We all just learned a little something… or maybe you knew, and I failed spelling as a kid. Either way, mint sherbet is here to stay. It’s creamy, but not too heavy, and the fresh mint just soothes the palate, and leaves you wanting more. Which there is plenty of because you now have my go-to summer dessert recipe!!  Mint Sherbet Ingredients: 3 cups whole milk 20 fresh mint leaves 2 egg yolks 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 tsp. vanilla In a medium/large saucepan, heat the milk and the mint leaves … Read More

Chili Lime Shrimp Guacamole Bowl Recipe

Dip Recipes

I told you guys I would be back with my molcajete (thanks Heidi!). This time, I’m using it as double duty by both making the guacamole in it and then using it a festive serving dish for a DELICIOUS Chili Lime Shrimp Guacamole Bowl recipe. Nothing is worse than coming home in the summer to a hot house and then revving up the oven to bake up some dinner. Solution? Make a cool, not to mention healthy, dinner in minutes. This meal comes together in minutes (no, seriously!) and I think it’s best when served up with some crunchy tortilla chips. More time to serve up some cocktails and really take the edge off of summer.  Chili Lime Shrimp Guacamole Bowls Shrimp: 1 lb. wild caught shrimp, deveined and shells removed 1 lime, juiced 2 tsp chili powder 2 tbsp. high heat oil (such as avocado or canola) Guacamole: 2 large … Read More

Beauty Tips

Many people forget or just avoid washing your makeup brushes and that is horrible for your skin. Makeup brushes are full of bacteria after being on your face and having left over makeup on them. Today I will be sharing with you my tips on how to clean your makeup brushes without paying a fortune on brush cleaner. What You Need: body wash or Johnsons Baby Shampoo (this is gentler) brush cleaning egg (or brush cleaning mat) makeup brushes water (obviously!) and you! What To Do: Start by wetting the makeup brush you are cleaning Add some shampoo or body wash to the brush cleaning egg Swirl your makeup brush around on the egg and rinse Repeat steps 1-3 until your brush rinses clear Leave to dry on a towel (try to tilt your brush down so your brushes will dry their original shape) I got my brush cleaning egg for … Read More

Squash Blossom Pesto Pizza Recipe

Pizza Recipes

Something about squash blossoms are addicting. Every time I see them at the farmer’s market I HAVE to have them. I don’t even look at the price tag (not because I am rolling in dough, trust me that’s not it). But because I know I am going to buy them regardless. Even if I have zero plans for my weekly menu for them, they’re still coming home with me. What is that I love about them so much? Well first off, you get to eat flowers. Like, come on, how can you say no to that? And they are gorgeous to look at! Seriously, the bright colors, the large petals. They just get me. But they also are kind of peppery and have a great bite when added to your dinner plate. Or in this case, lunch. We recently picked these up on our weekly Saturday morning farmer’s market run … Read More

10 Genius Makeup Tips and Tricks

Beauty Tips

I am always searching for different ways to apply makeup and to make my beauty routine easier. So, today not only will I be sharing my top 10 genius makeup tips and tricks, but I will also be sharing why they work or what the benefit is. Trick #1: Use Oil During Makeup Application This has been all over Insta lately and I have seen some brands even making some new oils specifically for this reason. Although I didn’t want to splurge on those products, so I used what I already owned. A face oil can help you blend your foundation so much easier and it also adds hydration to the skin as you do it. If you like the dewy look this is the way to achieve that. It leaves the skin looking fresh and glowy. You can do this by dropping 3-4 drops of your face oil onto a damp … Read More

Creating a Cinco de Mayo Tablescape

Cinco de Mayo

Having a Cinco de Mayo celebration this weekend? But feeling a little under-inspired with what to do for a Cinco De Mayo tablescape? I’m here to help with that! While I’d usually be inclined to just throw a bowl of chips on the table and dump a jar of salsa into a bowl and call it a day, how much more fun is it when you go full-fledged theme party and blow everyone away. With just a few simple additions to your food table, you too can re-create a fun Cinco de Mayo party look with minimal effort, aka, more time for margaritas! I simply laid a colorful strip of fabric down the center of my serving area (think long dining room table or kitchen island), and then used things I already had in the house as fun focal points for the rest of the table. Empty tomato cans, green … Read More

How To Create A Skincare Routine

Beauty Tips

Skincare is one of my favorite parts of my beauty routine. There is just something special about washing your face a feeling refreshed and moisturized. I believe that having a skincare routine is essential to keep your skin youthful and clean. You may want to have a routine but, it can start to become overwhelming as you are standing in the skin care aisle. So, today I am going to be sharing my tips on how to find the right products for you are for your skin type. The Basics I feel the first mistake most people make when going through their routine is the order they use each product. You want to apply your products from the lightest to heaviest. For example, makeup remover is super light and most of the time doesn’t leave any product on your face. The last product you should use (the heaviest) should be a night … Read More
