Watercolor Art Supplies to Create Your Own Script

watercolor-artsupplies

Hey Everyone! So I told you I would give you a list of watercolor art supplies I use when practicing watercolor script. You really only need a few items and then practice, practice, practice!!

1. First let’s talk brushes. I like to use a smaller round brush like the one here . For this brand I suggest a #6. A smaller size gives you more control of the brush and makes your lines cleaner. You have less brush to complete your strokes, so the length of the brush doesn’t get in the way. Of course a larger brush works when you have a rather large piece of paper.

2. I like to use practice paper to start because when you first start you are just learning and you go through a lot of paper. You can even just practice on computer paper and as you get better switch to watercolor paper found here . This paper is more cost effective but as you get better you can switch to even better paper found here .

3. I really like using Soho paints. They are so dense in color, a little goes a long way. You should start with a classic black and then once you get better you can start mixing colors.

4. I love using a disposable palette, such as this one . It is so easy to travel with and it gives me enough space to mix colors if I need to.

All these items can be found at Jerry’s Artarama.

I hope this gives you a good start when practicing watercolor lettering/script. It takes practice but if you have good watercolor art supplies, it makes a world of difference!

Watercolor Script Video Linked to Music

YouTube Preview Image

Hey Everyone! As you can tell I have been really getting into making videos. Being an artist, I am very visual, so I like to show my process every now and then! I have been practicing my watercolor script, hoping to eventually teach a workshop centered around it. I thought it would be fun to match my practice to a song. Since I am obsessed with Alessia Cara’s new EP “I’m Yours,” I had to use it! Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned next week for supplies I use to practice watercolor script!

LC Runway Collection NYFW Fashion Illustrations

lc5

Happy Tuesday! I am not ashamed to say I am a fan girl of anything Lauren Conrad. I started following her journey all the way back to Laguna Beach and now she just previewed her first runway collection at NYFW! How amazing is that?! The collection is called LC Runway.  You can shop the whole collection at Kohl’s! I love when designers put out affordable lines because not all of us can drop $400 on a new dress. Know what I’m saying?

Anyways, I was inspired by the line to do some fashion illustrations of her new collection. The colors are so soft and light so I chose to paint on a black canvas. Really, in this case, I painted on black sketch paper.

I know people enjoy seeing the process so I did a time lapse video as well! Hope you enjoy it and don’t forget to check out her awesome collection!

Flower Watercolor Painting Clip

Happy Tuesday! I thought this week I would give you a clip of a floral watercolor painting in action, as I am getting ready for all my watercolor flower workshops this fall! If you are interested, you can click here for more info and tickets.

Workshops filled a void for me. I love teaching but I want to be able to do my business as well, so I am grateful I am able to combine the two. Are there a few things you love to do and have you thought about combining them? I would seriously think about this question because it could lead you to your next stepping stone. Creative ideas are within us we just have to reach for them!

Side Note: I love choosing the music for my videos. This one is from Alessia Cara “Seventeen”. I just love her new EP!

What You Dream You Can Paint

highfashion1

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Hope everyone had a creative weekend. This weekend I had some down time to work on some projects that I have on my long to do list. For some odd reason, I usually get my best ideas at night. I find I always get over excited right before I have to go to bed, so I am on Pinterest past midnight. I do not recommend this but sometimes my brain does not shut off! Anyone else have this problem?

Today I want to give you a small preview of what I have been working on! If you follow me, you know I love painting fashion illustrations. Some of the detail designers put into each of their garments is absolutely amazing. I sometimes like to picture myself in these high fashions and painting them makes each picture a little more clear.

I remember my Aunt buying a Barbie software for fashion design and I think that is when I gained a real interest in creating clothes: whether it was sketching or actual making. I always have had a dream of breaking into the fashion industry: more of the branding side with my paintings. I may get there but as of right now I can appreciate exploring and creating my favorite fashions! I say never give up on your dreams and always work toward them. Enjoy!
