DIY Motherhood T-shirts

My little girl, Luna, just turned one last week. She’s my first baby and man, oh man, she brings so much love, joy & pure bliss to our lives. To say the past year flew by is an understatement (cue all the tears), but I’m also very, very excited for what the next year has in store in this journey of motherhood. So excited that this very journey inspired me to create these DIY Motherhood t-shirts that resonate so much with me at this stage in life and I thought they might just do the same for you, my fellow mommas. DIY Motherhood T-shirts Cricut® recently reached out asking me to design a collection of t-shirts. I immediately knew where my inspiration would come from: my baby girl and my first year of being a mom. I created a DIY Motherhood T-shirt Collection that communicates exactly what my mind is … Read More

Halloween Doll Costume DIY

It’s FINALLY here. Are you ready for it? I don’t think you are. Are you sure?! Well, okay, if you say so, then I guess I can tell you. For those of your that don’t know me, I am just a teeny tiny bit obsessed with all things Halloween. And obsessed may be a slight understatement. Last year I was the ever-so-fierce Maleficent and the year before I popped off the comic books pages as a Lichtenstein inspired character. This year’s costume is, drum roll and quick Usher dance please… an Antique Porcelain Doll. And yes, it is meant to thoroughly creep you out as much as possible. Sorry ’bout it. Thanks to the spot-on makeup skills of SN Makeup Artist Stephanie Neiheisel and the photography mastermind, Michelle Herrick of Michelle Herrick Photography, I was transformed into one of those dolls you felt like was always staring at you, no matter where you … Read More

Disney Maleficient DIY Halloween Costume

Not many things get me fist pumping with both hands more than knowing we’re only a few short weeks away from the best holiday to ever exist. Ever. And no I’m not talking about the holiday time stamped with a turkey. I’m talking about the spookified All Hallows Eve! Halloween is just kind of my thing. Hence my desire to go all out (and I mean ALL OUT) every year with my costume. Check this pic from last year’s Maleficent creation. Personally I think they should’ve hired me for the live-action film. Who needs Angelina Jolie anyways? The suspension is building for this year’s big costume reveal and I can’t wait to share what I’ve cooked up in my spooky witch cauldron. Don’t get any ideas, I won’t be posing as one of the Sanderson sisters this year. While we await the big reveal, I wanted to share some of … Read More

LC Runway Collection NYFW Fashion Illustrations

fashion week

Happy Tuesday! I am not ashamed to say I am a fan girl of anything Lauren Conrad. I started following her journey all the way back to Laguna Beach and now she just previewed her first runway collection at NYFW! How amazing is that?! The collection is called LC Runway.  You can shop the whole collection at Kohl’s! I love when designers put out affordable lines because not all of us can drop $400 on a new dress. Know what I’m saying? Anyways, I was inspired by the line to do some fashion illustrations of her new collection. The colors are so soft and light so I chose to paint on a black canvas. Really, in this case, I painted on black sketch paper. I know people enjoy seeing the process so I did a time lapse video as well! Hope you enjoy it and don’t forget to check out … Read More

High Fashion Art

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Hope everyone had a creative weekend. This weekend I had some down time to work on some projects that I have on my long to do list. For some odd reason, I usually get my best ideas at night. I find I always get over excited right before I have to go to bed, so I am on Pinterest past midnight. I do not recommend this but sometimes my brain does not shut off! Anyone else have this problem? Today I want to give you a small preview of what I have been working on! If you follow me, you know I love to paint fashion illustrations. Some of the detail designers put into each of their garments is absolutely amazing. I sometimes like to picture myself in these high fashions and painting them makes each picture a little more clear. I remember my Aunt buying a Barbie software … Read More

A Day in the Life with Shira Rosenbluth

notebook

My name is Shira Rosenbluth and I’m a social worker by day and a style blogger by night for A Sequin Love Affair. Psychotherapy and fashion are a pretty random mix but I love being able to use my more serious, compassionate side just as much as my creative, colorful side! I started my blog because I wanted to share my love of style as a form of self expression and spread the message that you can dress in a way that reflects who you are regardless of body size or budget. So what does a typical day in the life for me look like? On my day as a therapist, it’s pretty typical and routine. I wake up and catch up on Instagram and emails because, priorities ;), then have a coffee the size of my head (and a big egg white omelette with veggies) and go to work where I see about … Read More
