Date Bar Recipe

So as hard as it was to admit. I was wrong. I believed that after all of the wedding planning, and house guests, and parties, that our lives would slow down a bit. I. was. wrong. It just gave me more time to fill up with different things, like volunteering for my college sorority, making sure my dog gets a longer walk than we usually give him, playing Safeway grocery store monopoly (it’s an obsession). And with all of the busy-ness, I find myself on the run for breakfast most every day. I am a creature of habit most of the time, and my breakfast consists of a hard-boiled egg and a homemade date bar. And coffee, obvi. These bars are addicting, I even found my hubby sneaking some each morning as well. A real people pleaser I tell ya! Brownie Recipe

Is there really anything more classic than the fusion of chocolate and peanut butter? All the best things include them, and basically anything that combines sweet and salty is a winner in my book. I recently made these peanut butter cookie infused brownies for my husband to snack on whilst getting ready for our wedding day. And yes, I know what you are thinking…this girl made homemade brownies the week of her wedding? And yes. Yes, I did. I’m just that crazy. But all crazy aside, these things are addicting, incredibly rich, and oh so tempting.  Peanut Butter Brookies Recipe Brownie Layer: 1 box brownie mix 2 eggs 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup canola oil Peanut Butter Cookie Dough: 1/4 cup canola oil 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg, room temperature 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 cup creamy nut butter 1 cup all-purpose flour1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt Prepare … Read More

Mexican Recipes

The weather here in Arizona right now is perfectly reflective of this recipe. Sweet, salty, and with a little bit of heat. Things have warmed up rather quickly here in the Valley of the Sun, and when we were expecting our wedding last week to be somewhere in the low to mid-70s, we ended up with a high of 85 and not a single cloud in the sky. Needless to say I was staring into the direct sunset while we said our vows, but nothing would have stopped me from saying “I Do” to my best friend. Now that we are slowly getting back to our regular routines and settling down as  husband and wife, I can get myself back in the kitchen, whipping up new recipes and keeping my husband (still getting used to that term!) happy with new and fun recipes! I love this guacamole, because it is perfect … Read More

Superbowl Recipes

As heartbroken as I am that the AZ Cardinals did not make it to the Superbowl this year (classic Arizona sports, choking when it counts the most), I am not in the least heartbroken to share with you my top 10 recipes for Superbowl 50 appetizers. I will be spending the big game with a bike ride to a friends house to watch the game, aka stuffing our faces and then riding off the calories on our way back home. Pantry Staples for Every Home

Pantry Essentials

Not everyone is an at-home cook. Trust me, sometimes it would be a lot easier to just pick up my favorite Chinese take-out and call it a night. Especially when I open my pantry and there’s about as much food as Leo has Oscar awards (sorry Leo, I know this is your year!). That’s why I have complied a list of pantry essentials that can get you through anything, even if you are stranded inside due to blizzard, or if you’re on the west coast and it’s too unbearable to drive all the way to the store. Dramatic much? That I am at times. Trust me, pantry staples are a must, and super simple to have stocked at all times. My favorites include: good quality olive oil balsamic vinegar salt & pepper (freshly ground, of course) canned beans (for salads, chili, or mashed on toast) chicken or vegetable broth tomato … Read More

DIY Coffee Dry Rub Recipe

Coffee Dry Rub Recipe

It’s no secret that we #girlbosses need our coffee in the morning. Death Before Decaf, right? We even reach for a second or even a third cup in a day when we are feeling extra creative or just need a boost to handle our business. But who’s to say that coffee is just for drinking? Or can’t even be enjoyed over, say, dinner? Today I am showing you how to throw together the most sinful coffee dry rub that pairs perfectly with steak. Simply cover the steaks in the coffee rub and allow to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before grilling to your desired doneness (I personally prefer medium myself). While the brown sugar caramelizes, creating a sweet and crisp level to the steak, the coffee packs a punch of flavor. A lovely combination if I do say so myself!  Coffee Dry Rub Ingredients: 3 tbsp. ground coffee 3 … Read More

Hosting a Bloody Mary Bar

Bloody Mary Bar

There is always a good reason to have a Bloody Mary. Brunches, Birthdays. Sundays. And you can’t forget about football Sundays. Those are worth double the points. With the Superbowl coming up in a few weeks, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite fixings to make sure your Bloody Mary bar game is on point. You’ve always got to have bacon. Because, bacon. And I like to have a variety of hot sauces to appeal to everyone’s tastebuds. I prefer mine pretty spicy, but beware of the ghost pepper mix. You’ll end up pouring it down the drain because no one can handle it. Speaking from experience here. Cubed cheese, green olives, peperoncinos, pickled veggies, and slices of salami can be used to make skewers to snack on in between sips. If there’s a large party, you can even try out multiple types of bloody mary mixes. For the … Read More

Breakfast Casserole

New year. New you. Isn’t that what every January is focused on? I have chosen to spend the 1st two weeks of the new year going paleo in preparation for my upcoming wedding. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. AmIright? But just because I am cutting out dairy and processed carbs doesn’t mean I still can’t eat well. I have a fiance at home who loves to eat, so we can’t just be here chomping down on celery. Plus, where’s the fun in that? I have challenged myself to make healthy, yet delicious and filling meals for us as we work towards the most important day of our lives this far. My motto in life is, you have to eat, so why not eat good food. The same applies here. Savory sausage is mixed with sweet onion and peppers, then baked off with sweet potato and eggs. … Read More
