Disney Maleficient DIY Halloween Costume

Not many things get me fist pumping with both hands more than knowing we’re only a few short weeks away from the best holiday to ever exist. Ever. And no I’m not talking about the holiday time stamped with a turkey. I’m talking about the spookified All Hallows Eve!

Halloween is just kind of my thing. Hence my desire to go all out (and I mean ALL OUT) every year with my costume. Check this pic from last year’s Maleficent creation. Personally I think they should’ve hired me for the live-action film. Who needs Angelina Jolie anyways?

The suspension is building for this year’s big costume reveal and I can’t wait to share what I’ve cooked up in my spooky witch cauldron. Don’t get any ideas, I won’t be posing as one of the Sanderson sisters this year. While we await the big reveal, I wanted to share some of my favorite Halloween costume inspirations.

1. If you want a DIY that will knock all of the trick or treaters off their feet, you need to head to Studio DIY. Right now. Kelly is INCREDIBLY creative. I’m talking a gum ball machine, turn dial included. A fro-yo cup, cute beau as the spoon included. And even a cereal bowl that will leave you wanting to trade out your candy for some other breakfast deliciousness. The best part is, she’s got a zillion and one more ideas right on her page.

2. If your kiddos can’t keep their books on the shelves, The House that Lars Built has the perfect take on the illustrations from the classic children’s books The Day the Crayons Quit, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Chrysanthemum. I mean, come on. How much cuter could these littles get? (They’d be unstoppable cute if they were wearing one of these Legit tees). Take cues from these ideas and you’ll have yourself a character right out of your kiddo’s favorite book.

3. Now before you look at Aww, Sam‘s confectionary costumes, be warned that you may be entranced into taking a trip to your local taco joint, the movies and the state fair, all in one night. Aww, Sam is a resident baking expert which shows perfectly through her scrumptious costumes this year- the DIY taco, DIY Popcorn and DIY Cotton Candy. I think my mouth is watering already.

4. Last but not least, me! With my intense, sometimes excessive love for Halloween, I couldn’t help but include my Lichtenstein inspired get-up from a few years ago. You can become your very own comic book character with this step-by-step make-up tutorial, thanks to the uber talented Lillian Fogel with GLAM LOUNGE.
