Hi loves! Sami from The Unexpected Type here today to talk about one of the biggest, most difficult decisions you make when throwing a party or wedding: party favors (duh!). Okay fine, maybe not the most important aspect– I like to think so– but finding or creating the perfect favor is actually a really hard thing to do. With so many possibilities out there to create whatever your brain can think of and so many small businesses who have some cute favors, it can get overwhelming. I’ve got the top 5 favors your guest will really want after the party! 1. Customized Luggage Tags // Destination wedding? These are the perfect favors! Keep them clean with a lovely beige, camel, or pink color and engrave the dates on them. 2. Macaroon Pops // Macaroons make amazing favors since they’re extremely pretty, yet small and portable. I found these cute DIY macaroon pop covers … Read More
Wedding stationery is a beast of it’s own. When a designer is asked to create wedding invitations for a bride and groom, they are tasked with bringing the couple’s unique vision to life…for the most important. day. of. their. life. No pressure, right? Ashley & Pete came to me with a vision of romance fused with a soft, sweet color palette. During our initial meet-up, Ashley mentioned their floral arrangements & bridesmaid dresses would have an ombré effect and my mind was racing with excitement. What if we continue the trend into their stationery suite, too?! That’s just what we did. The suite consisted of a double thick ivory invitation, paired with a blush details card, finished off with a lilac response card that was all housed in a silver metallic envelope. There was that extra splash of sophistication with the names silver-foiled on the main invitation, the entire suite wrapped … Read More
A few months ago the lovely girls of Imoni Events reached out and asked me to conceptualize and design a wedding stationery suite for their white wedding styled shoot. After asking many questions and gathering all their ideas, my mind immediately began to race. It’s always a (GOOD!) challenge when taking on a styled shoot as the options are initially endless. To add some limitations to the project, I decided on an over-sized square invite with an added punch of incorporating not only one, but TWO different fabrics. The challenge officially began with finding just the right fabric combo. After a long search, I stumbled upon a match made in heaven. I paired a teal, graphic-patterned cotton fabric with a high contrast, large cutout satin overlay. The teal fabric would be the front layer, adding energy & personality, while the coral would serve as an oversized graphic, bringing texture to … Read More
First off, how gorgeous is Pascale?! She is absolutely stunning and this photo is one of my faves. I love everything about this photo. And, by everything, I mean I seriously need all of the furniture, walls, glass, artwork…everything in this picture transferred to my house. Like stat. Ding! An email hits my inbox. I quickly open it and find an email from a soon-to-be bride describing all her visions of her wedding day, more specifically her wedding invitations and stationery. Pascale begins the email by telling me a little bit about herself and her fiancé. They met in Lebanon where they had both been living for the past few years. Pascale was running a full service event management company, while Maurice was playing pro basketball. Now, they were ready to seal the deal and they needed my help. Pascale went on to tell me that she and Maurice are … Read More
Exciting news! Emmy & Ian’s wedding was featured on Style My Pretty yesterday! Check out the stationery I created for their special day and find more details about the wedding both on Style Me Pretty and Outstanding Occasions’ blog. First off, how gorgeous is Emmy?!? I had so much fun working with her on her wedding stationery for both her wedding invitations as well as her day-of paper products. To begin, I designed a grey and ivory letterpress invitation suite that set the tone for their special day by focusing on the Arizona landscape. The invitation suite was finished off with a custom liner with their names, filled with bold succulent graphics and then inserted into a blush outer envelope. Soft, elegant, yet modern with a punch of color. Upon arriving at the ceremony, the guests were greeted with custom programs that also served as fans to help fight off the hot … Read More
Ceci and Ben were married this summer at their residence in Paradise Valley. These two were seriously too cute for words and if I could bottle up the joy and love that these two have for each other, a day wouldn’t go by that was anything less than giddy. I mean, seriously, look at them in the first photo. LOVE. I had the pleasure of working with Ceci & Ben on all their wedding stationery, including invitations, menus, programs, place cards and the list goes on. All of the details that made up their magical day were beyond gorgeous. I’ll go ahead and hush my face and let the photos speak for themselves. Kudos to Melissa Jill Photography for the beautiful photos and props to Jennifer Thinnes of Outstanding Occasions for orchestrating it all. It was absolutely breathtaking. See for yourself. We were even able to take the logo from … Read More
Louis XIV, the “Sun King” was the inspiration behind this engraved wedding invitation suite. The couple wanted an elegant, sophisticated, yet unique design with the emphasis being on a sun insignia. The bride loved the idea of incorporating a symbol that could be used throughout all of their stationery and a sun seemed most fitting considering her nickname was “Sunshine,” given to her by her father. idieh design first created a custom sun emblem and then worked with Jennifer Schmitt Calligraphy to incorporate Jennifer’s beautiful script throughout the entire engraved ensemble. The sun emblem was cropped differently on each piece to give each card its own unique character. The liner pulled elements from the emblem and created an intricate repeating pattern. The main wedding invite consisted of a plum, charcoal, & white paper stock wrapped in a charcoal satin ribbon. The reception and response card fit snuggly behind the band, making … Read More
